The Boardwalk, Cork

In 2005, Hennessy Timber Group was awarded the fitting of Munster’s first boardwalk, at the Clarion Hotel development, Lapps Quay Cork. The Boardwalk’s innovative design along with its stylish and sophisticated finish has become one of the most iconic and scenic areas in Cork city. The Boardwalk has a both a modern and unique look to it which Hennessy Timber Group Ltd. is proud to have been a part of.

The Boardwalk is 90 metres long and 6m wide.  Hennessy Timber Group Ltd.  fitted EKKI timber for the boardwalk. EKKI material was chosen as  it was most suitable due to its durability and the fact that it has no buoyancy, which is essential for this area, due to seasonal tides.

Hennessy Timber Decking Group Ltd. completed this project in just four weeks, ensuring efficiency and high quality throughout. PJ Hegarty’s were the main contractors on this development.   Balau Decking was used on other parts of this project in order to create an enhancing and stylish finish. Hennessy’s commitment to design excellence and core focus on quality had a true reflection on the success of this large development.

The Boardwalk development was Hennessy Timber Group’s first large contract won in Cork. Both the large scale of this project and huge success that it brought, provided Hennessy Timber Group with excellent credibility for future projects.
